Hong Kong curator, producer and writer Xue Tan will be Chief Curator of Haus der Kunst, the Munich museum announced. Tan will succeed British curator Emma Enderby, who will be leaving to helm KW Berlin in April.
From 2015, Tan has been the founding Senior Curator of Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong, where she oversees the exhibition programme and special projects. She recently mounted solo presentations of Maria Hassabi, Pan Daijing, Tino Sehgal, Francis Alÿs and Cao Fei, among other live commissions and group exhibitions on topics of gender, ecology and technology. Tan’s curatorial practices have also reached international institutions and audiences, curating shows for the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt and Bard CCS in New York.
‘I am thrilled to begin working with Xue Tan,’ Andrea Lissoni, artistic director at Haus der Kunst said in a statement. ‘She brings to Haus der Kunst deep knowledge and experience on the Asian Region, as well as on transdisciplinary contemporary artistic practices, that are at the core of the exciting transformation the institution is going through.’
Tan will start her role in June 2024.
