Critic Edward Sanderson and artist Elaine W. Ho would like to invite you to ‘Who Goes, Where Are?’, the second of their ongoing series of collaborative presentations and demonstrations arising out of their common engagement with independent artistic initiatives and collectives in China.

The evening will explore ‘research’ as a mode of collaborative practice, where the dialogue between researchers and subjects tiptoes upon the performative, and the scales between observation and engagement are played with as a form of phasing, practice and collective learning.

Edward Sanderson is a UK-born art critic, who lives and works in Beijing. He is currently studying for the MA in Global Arts at Goldsmiths College, London. His primary research interests are in alternative cultural practices, previously with a focus on contemporary artists in China working outside of the gallery and/or art system. While at Goldsmiths he is looking at ephemeral practices as a social and political strategy, privileging the creative scenarios and subjectivities that these practices temporarily induce.

Elaine W. Ho (HK/USA) works between the realms of time-based art, urban practice and design, using multiple vocabularies to explore the micropolitics, subjectivities and the alter-possibilities of an intimate, networked production. The act of describing takes on a number of forms – a kind of grammar, a documentation, a gesture, a biography – or a project in Beijing known as HomeShop. She is the initiator of the artist-run space, active from 2008-2013, and currently a fellow at the Institut für Raumexperimente in Berlin.
