In parallel with ArtReview’s Artist Books series, Armani commissioned the magazine to produce a 68-page publication to support a pop-up exhibition surveying the work of cult Canadian street-artist Richard Hambleton.
The publication was distributed with the October 2010 issue of ArtReview and was commissioned to serve as the catalogue for visitors to the travelling retrospective exhibition Richard Hambleton – New York for its London iteration. Focusing on the artist’s iconic ‘shadowman’ works from the early 1980s, it included an essay on the art of Hambleton by ArtReview’s editor-in-chief Mark Rappolt and a portfolio of the works presented in the London show.
The exhibition Richard Hambleton: New York. The Godfather of Street Art ran from 19 November to 3 December 2010 at The Dairy in London, other iterations of the show took place in New York, Milan, Cannes and Moscow.
