Friday 13 May: Artists Helen Cammock and Rory Pilgrim, Serpentine curator Amal Khalaf, and New Town Culture curator Marijke Steedman, in conversation with ArtReview Editor-in-Chief Mark Rappolt
Can art practices become part of systemic transformation? Currently on view at Serpentine North (until 29 May 2022), Radio Ballads presents new film commissions by artists Sonia Boyce, Helen Cammock, Rory Pilgrim and Ilona Sagar, alongside paintings, drawings and research materials.
These new works, created over the past three years by the artists in collaboration with social workers, carers, organisers and communities across the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham – facilitated through the council’s New Town Culture programme – explore stories of labour, and who cares for whom, and in what way.
To coincide with the exhibition, the Serpentine and ArtReview will host a panel discussion on Friday 13 May. The event will explore the conceptual framework of the artists and the central themes to the exhibition.
Date: Friday 13 May
Time: Entry from 5.30pm, talk to commence 6pm (until 8pm)
Address: Serpentine North, W Carriage Dr, London W2 2AR
