ArtReview Live presents Renzo Martens

For the last ArtReview Live event of 2014, Dutch artist Renzo Martens will be hosting an evening of drinks, discussion and screenings in the ArtReview bar.

Shortlisted for the sixth Artes Mundi prize, the artist will discuss his recent work, including his Institute for Human Activities (IHA) in Congo, before hosting a fundraising sale of chocolate sculptures from the project.

Realised as part of the IHA’s’ critical curriculum, these sculptures are elaborate self-portraits by Congolese plantation workers that have been scanned, digitally exported, 3D-printed and cast in the very cocoa that plantation workers there have been producing for global markets for the last century. Twenty sculptures will be on sale at £39.95, an exclusive opportunity to acquire an artwork while supporting this fundraising project, with all profits going to the plantation workers.

The pay bar will be run by special guest brewers Company: Movements, Deals and Drinks, a project by artist group Myvillages which draws on the history of East Londoners going hop-picking in Kent to set up a new community drinks enterprise in Barking and Dagenham.
