During this year’s EXPO CHICAGO, ArtReview Live will present a project by Viennese collective dienstag abend. Founded in 2009 at Kunstraum Ve.Sch, Vienna, by artists Ludwig Kittinger and Fernando Mesquita, dienstag abend create situations informed by the local environment and collective mechanisms, which frequently take the form of a temporary bar or kitchen.
For their installation at EXPO, they have asked a selection of artists to contribute by providing instructions on the further development of the ‘bar’ during the fair. The instructions will be largely left to chance, ranging from potential additions or de-constructions to the existing fair structure – possibly containing aspects of conflict and the potential for dysfunction – where the final outcome is left purposefully open; Beverages, such as coffee, tea, water, and possibly soup, will be offered on a donation system, adding a social aspect to the project.
The collective will also conduct one live performance daily, which will adapt in collaboration with local artists in Chicago, along with a series of video works by selected artists which will be screened in their booth at the fair.
Video artists include: Laleh Khorramian, Tilmann Meyer-Fae, Alexander Martinz, Rodrigo Tavarela Peixoto, Mahony, Hugo Canoilas, Dragos Alexandrescu, Barbara Anna Husar and Wolfgang Obermair.
Live performances: Diego Leclery, Santos Vasquez, Peter Fritzenwallner, Tanja Vrvilo and Damir Indoš.
