Art+Feminism will be hosting its second Wikipedia edit-a-thon to promote gender equality on the online encyclopaedia. Following a survey by Wikimedia Foundation revealing that less than 10% of the Wikepedia contributors were women, this campaign aims at encouraging female editorship, as well as improving coverage of women and the arts on the platform.

Last years edit-a-thon gathered 600 participants across 31 different locations, which resulted in 100 newly created articles and over 90 improved ones about feminist thinkers and women in the arts. This year’s edition has grown to include 55 different satellite locations across 11 locations, with the flagship event taking place at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. It will take place on March 7th from 11am to 5pm, ahead of the International Women’s Day celebrated on 8 March.
