What is greatness and where can it be found? Two of the questions that ArtReview asks itself, and a host of artists, curators and writers, each year, when it sets about the task of selecting artists for its March FutureGreats issue. The answer to the first question may be hotly debated, but the answer to the second is far easier: here’s where you can see work by five of the 30 artists featured in this year’s FutureGreats.

Claudia Comte’s upcoming exhibition at David Dale Gallery is a special commission in association with the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art, and will feature the artist’s playful large-scale wall works, woodcuts and sculptures.
Benoît Maire: Beings, through 12 Apr at Hollybush Gardens, London
Benoît Maire’s new exhibition at Hollybush Gardens takes the form of minimal sculptural interventions in the gallery walls, where fragmented imagery and text, behind panes of patterned glass, play on definitions of between and behind, and how we read pictures and see words.
Caroline Achaintre: Mooner at Arcade, London, extended through 22 March
In Caroline Achaintre’s show of semi-abstract works in ink on paper, imagery evoking carnival patterns and masques emerge from out of the bleeding splashes and dribbles of colour, in a way that manages to be both celebratory and sinister.
Luiza Baldan: Build Up, 22 Mar through 26 Apr at MdM Gallery, Paris
Luiza Baldan’s forthcoming show at MdM Paris will showcase work from the artist’s latest immersive residency project, in which she uses the photographic image and other media to highlight different narratives contained within the architecture of often iconic domestic dwellings.
