The fourth edition of Dhaka Art Summit (DAS), which is primarily funded by the Samdani Art Foundation, will take place from 2-10 February 2018, focusing on Bangladesh in relation to both South and Southeast Asia. Featuring over 300 artists in 10 exhibitions (led by chief curator Diana Campbell Betancourt and guest curators), as well as 16 panel discussions and two symposiums throughout which over 120 speakers will take part, DAS is open to the public as a free event.

This year DAS will host its first Education Pavilion, including workshops with artists as well as institutions such as Raqs Media Collective, Superflex, Städelschule, Open School East and TBA21-Academy. In addition, one third of the works at DAS have been specially commissioned for the exhibition – contributing artists include: Rasheed Araeen, Sheela Gowda, Zihan Karim, Htein Lin, Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran, Randhir Singh and Seher Shah, and Reetu Sattar.

Extending its duration to nine days, DAS 2018 will host an opening and closing weekend of panel discussions, lectures and workshops, culminating in two symposiums; the first devoted to the work of Colombo-born art historian Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy, organised by Shabbir Hussain Mustafa (senior curator at National Gallery of Singapore), and the second titled Displays of Internationalism: Asia Interfacing With The World Through Exhibitions, 1947-1989, organised by Amara Antilla (assistant curator at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York). The keynote lecture will be delivered by scholar, literary theorist and feminist critic Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak.
