Pierre Huyghe has been named the recipient of the artistic Grand Prix, bestowed by the Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca on the recommendation of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. The €100,000 accolade celebrates Huyghe’s lifelong career as an internationally acclaimed artist. The award ceremony will take place at the Institut de France on 19 June.
Created in 1975 by Simone Del Duca in homage to her husband, philanthropist Cino Del Duca, the Simone and Cino Del Duca Foundation aims to promote the arts, letters and sciences in France and abroad. Each year the Grand Prix Artistique is presented alternately to the fields of painting, sculpture and musical composition. Two Prix de Confirmation of €25,000 are awarded to laureates of the other two disciplines.
Huyghe’s solo exhibition Liminal is on view at the Pinault’s Collection Punta della Dogana in Venice through 23 November.
