The Swiss subsidiary of HSBC, HSBC Private Bank, has helped high-net-worth-individuals avoid tax by hiding millions of dollars of assets, according to leaked documents obtained by The Guardian, Le Monde, BBC Panorama and the Washington-based International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. Among those named in the documents is allegedly, and as reported by Le Monde, the French artist Christian Boltanski. The newspaper says the artist is believed to have since changed his financial arrangements.
