Plans to display Nazi arms dealer's collection at Zurich's Kunsthaus causes outrage

Opposition has grown against the proposed display of Nazi arms dealer Emil Georg Bührle’s collection of French Impressionist works at the city’s fine art museum, the New York Times reports. The Kunsthaus has been undergoing expansion and refurbishment, led by architect David Chipperfield, but the excavation of the site has rekindled sensitive issues surrounding the Jewish history of the city.

Amid demonstrations from hundreds of Orthodox Jews in London, New York, Montreal and Tel Aviv, other criticisms have focused on the ethical issues of giving prominence to the collection of Mr Bührle within a publicly funded institution.
