Film and video artist Cheng Ran is the first recipient of an artist’s residency set up jointly by Hong Kong-based K11 Foundation and the New Museum in New York, Artnews reports. The institutions have partnered in order to create a New York residency programme for emerging Chinese artists with the aim of bringing international attention to their work. The three-month residency will culminate with an exhibition at the New Museum – the artist’s first US solo show – due to open 19 October 2016.
