The New York-based Artist Pension Trust (APT) has announced the sale of a selection of works its collection at sales at Sotheby’s New York and Sotheby’s London in March and April.

Established in 2004, the APT receives works from artists over a twenty-year period, on the basis that future sales from the growing collection (now counted at over 13,000 works) will provide financial income for member artists in later years. A proportion of revenues is assigned to a ‘pool’ of all member artists depending on their length of membership. Member artists include Pawel Althamer, Nairy Baghramian, Douglas Gordon, Liam Gillick, Fiona Banner and Ryan Gander.

In December last year APT announced its merger with the art information website mutualart.com. The site provides subscriber-based information on artists and auction data, and services for art buyers and sellers.
