A television documentary team has tracked down the grave of Welsh artist Gwen John, in Dieppe, France, reports BBC News. John was the lover of sculptor Auguste Rodin and died in 1939 but her final resting place had remained unknown, until it was uncovered by the Welsh language channel S4C.
Having grown up in Pembrokeshire, John moved to London to study art, and then to Paris in 1904, where she met the much-older Rodin.Their relationship lasted a decade and shaped the remainder of the Welsh artist’s life and work.
Some of her work is kept at the National Museum in Cardiff and Tate Britain in London.
