The Georgian artist Tamuna Sirbiladze has died. She was 45. The news was confirmed in a social media post by the gallerist Jonathan Viner, whom she had exhibited with. Sirbiladze was based in Vienna and studied at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and the Academy of Arts, Vienna, and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Sirbiladze’s work trod a line between representation and abstraction through installations, videos, performances, and paintings. She often collaborated with her husband, Franz West, who died in 2012. Her last solo exhibition, Take It Easy, took place at Half Gallery, New York, in 2015.

4 March 2016.
