Tel Aviv Museum of Art has announced the appointment of artist Doron Rabina, who will take up the role of chief curator, Haaretz reports. Rabina taught art at Beit-Berl College (Midrasha School of Art) between 2009 and 2014, and prior to this was the curator of the college’s gallery, The Midrasha, for eight years. In 2004 he represented Israel at the Bienal de São Paulo. Rabina was headhunted by the museum following unsuccessful attempts to find a candidate through a public call for applications.
Suzanne Landau, who is currently the director and chief curator of the museum, said Rabina’s ‘fresh and innovative approach’ was key in the recruitment panel’s decision to ask him to join the museum. Landau will remain the director of Tel Aviv Museum of Art, while Rabina is expected to assume the role of chief curator in a few months time.
