To coincide with the 15th anniversary of the Pavilion commission in 2015, the Serpentine launched Build Your Own Pavilion, a national competition for young architects between 8-14 years old, inviting them to design their own model for a Pavilion.

The competition received 600 entries, which were divided in to two categories (8-10 years and 11-14 years). This year’s winners are Jasmine, 10, from Teddington, whose Pavilion was inspired by spiders’ webs and Nahida, 13, from Tower Hamlets, London, who created a hill-shaped, transparent pavilion intended as a big studio for people to rent out or to use for

More inspired proposals from the runners-up can be viewed online too, in both the 8-10 category and 11-14 category.

4 February 2016.

Jury included: the Serpentine directors, Julia Peyton-Jones and Hans Ulrich Obrist; the designers of the 2015 Serpentine Pavilion, selgascano; David Glover, chairman of Intelligent Engineering UK; and Dejan Mitrovic, founder of Kidesign and designer of the Build Your Own Pavilion workshops.
