The Board of Directors of la Biennale di Venezia have announced that Okwui Enwezor will curate the 56th biennale, 9 May-22 November 2015. The Nigerian born curator, critic and writer is currently Director of the Haus der Kunst in Munich.
He has also been Artistic Director of the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in South Africa (1998), Documenta 11 (2002), the Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Sevilla in Spain (2007), the 7th Gwangju Biennale (2008) and the Triennal d’Art Contemporain of Paris (2012).
In 1994 Enwezor founded NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art published by Duke University Press.
