Hoor Al Qasimi, the director of Sharjah Art Foundation, was today confirmed as curator of the 2020 Lahore Biennale.
A curator and artist, Al Qasimi launched Sharjah Art Foundation in 2009 to promote art in the region and internationally. She has been director of the Sharjah Biennial since 2003 and is also, since 2017, president of the International Biennial Association. The second edition of the Lahore Biennale will take place in February 2020 and, while no title has been decided upon, a statement to the press announced that that the biennale would ‘extend its regional scope to West Asia and the Middle East’. The inaugural Lahore Biennale, held in March 2018, featured contributions from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India at venues across the city.
