Brant Publication’s BMP Media Holdings LLC, publisher of Art in America, The Magazine Antiques and Modern Magazine, has agreed to sell his media assets to ARTNEWS S.A, in exchange for the majority of shares in the company, The New York Times reports. ARTnews and Art in America will be gathered digitally under artnews.com, while offering a bundled print subscription under the Art in America brand. The combined company will be based in New York.
The two publications had been struggling with declining staff numbers and ad sales in recent years, and their merger would aim to consolidate their presence by ‘provid[ing] the complete content and history of decorative arts, classical arts and art-related news’, publisher and art collector Peter Brant says.
