Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts to be represented by Hauser & Wirth

The Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts is to be represented worldwide by Hauser & Wirth, the gallery has announced. Kelley established the foundation in 2007 as a philanthropic grant-making initiative. Since artist’s death in 2012 it has also looked after his estate. While Kelley was represented by Gagosian in his lifetime, this new deal is perhaps not surprising – Paul Schimmel, the former LA MoCA chief curator who is now partnering with Hauser & Wirth on a Los Angeles space, has previously been co-director and chair of the foundation. The academic John C. Welchman in the current chair and the current executive director is Mary Clare Stevens. Artist Jim Shaw is among the board of directors.
