Curator of the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo announced

The Fundação Bienal de São Paulo has announced Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro as the curator of the 33rd edition of the biennial, set to take place in 2018. Pérez-Barreiro is currently director and chief curator of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, one of the largest private collections of Latin American art.

Pérez-Barreiro holds a PhD in History and Theory of Art from the University of Essex and a Master’s Degree in Art History and Latin American Studies from the University of Aberdeen. He was the chief curator of the 6th Mercosul Biennial in 2007, served as curator of Latin American art at the Blanton Museum of Art at (University of Texas, Austin), and was director of visual arts at the Americas Society in New York.
