French minister of culture Fleur Pellerin nominated artist Jean-Marc Bustamante to take direction of Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, Le Monde reports. This decision follows the controversial dismissal of former director Nicolas Bourriaud by Pellerin early July.

Bustamantehas been teaching at the school since 1996, as well as at the Fine Art Academy in Munich since 2008, and directed the ‘Printemps de Septembre’, a biannual art festival in Toulouse from 2012 to 2015. The artist also has his share of controversy, following perceived sexist comments he made in 2006 and which generated a furious reactions from feminists, including novelist (and ArtReview contributor) Marie Darrieussecq.
