The gallery-share programme Condo has revealed the list of participants for its first Mexico City edition, which opens on April 14 and runs through May 12.
Describing itself as a ‘large-scale collaborative exhibition of international galleries’ which aspires to provide an alternative to the art fair model, the first edition of Condo took place in London in 2016. The model invites local galleries to host partners from around the world. Organised by Ana Castello, director of joségarcía, mx, the Mexico City version will feature 22 galleries hosting 49 of their peers.
The Mexico City edition follows versions in London and New York; a ‘mini-version’ called Condo Unit opens in São Paulo on 6 April, and a Shanghai version will open in Shanghai in the summer of 2018. The full list of participants in Condo Mexico City can be found on the Condo website.
In Warsaw, a similar initiative inspired by the Condo model opens on the weekend of 7-8 April. Friend of a Friend sees eight Warsaw galleries open their spaces to guests from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, the US, Switzerland and the UK. Acknowledging its debt to Condo, the initiative says that it is based on ‘the principle of friendly collaboration’. A list of participating galleries is available on the Friend of a Friend website.
