Städelschule Frankfurt have announced that Philippe Pirotte will take up position as its new director in April 2014. Pirotte, born 1972, is a Belgian art historian, critic, and curator. He studied Art History at Ghent University and in 1999 he co-founded the art centre Objectif Exhibitions in Antwerp.
From 2005 to 2011 he was Director of Kunsthalle Bern. In July 2012, he became Adjunct Senior Curator at the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive. He is also currently advising program director for the Sifang Art Museum in Nanjing.
