The German filmmaker and artist Wim Wenders will be directing his first opera, Artnet reports. Wenders, who has a film career spanning 40 years with more than 30 films, is set to begin working on Georges Bizet’s 1863 opera Les Pêcheurs de Perles (The Pearl Fishers). The opera will be performed at the Berlin State Opera House in 2017. Daniel Barenboim, the award winning Argentine-Israeli conductor, will lead the orchestra.
