Yuko Mohri receives 2015 Nissan Art Award

Yuko Mohri has been announced as the winner of the second Nissan Art Award, a three million yen prize (approx. £15,000) supporting the work of Japanese artists. In addition to the prize money, Mohri will be offered the opportunity to live and work in London for two months in the spring of 2016, in association with the Camden Arts Centre.

The audience award was presented to Tsuyoshi Hisakado. Mohri and Hisakado’s work, along with the other five finalists’ (Sayaka Akiyama, Takashi Ishida, Takahiro Iwasaki, Futoshi Miyagi and Tomoko Yoneda), is on show through 24 December at BankART Studio NYK in Yokohama. 

Based in Tokyo, Mohri has participating in large scale exhibitions including the Yokohama Triennale 2014 and the Sapporo International Art Festival 2014; other recent shows include Hong Kong Arts Centre, Gallery waitingroom, Tokyo, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin and Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
