Nottingham Contemporary on shortlist for UK Museum of the Year

The shortlist for the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2019, which awards £100,000 to a UK museum, has been announced. The largest prize of its kind in the world, it aims to reward ‘exceptional imagination, innovation and achievement’. The finalists this year are the National Museum of the Royal Navy at HMS Caroline, Belfast; Nottingham Contemporary; Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford; St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff and the V&A Dundee. 

The jury, chaired by Art Fund director Stephen Deuchar, also comprises David Batchelor, Brenda Emmanus, Bridget McConnell and Bill Sherman.

The winner is announced at a ceremony at the Science Museum in London on 3 July 2019. The other four shortlisted museums each receive £10,000 in recognition of their achievements. Previous winners including Tate St Ives, The Hepworth Wakefield and V&A London.
