The scientist who claimed that Damien Hirst’s works preserved in formaldehyde were leaking a dangerous amount of carcinogenic fumes into the air during his 2012 exhibition at Tate Modern has retracted his findings, The Guardian reports. Professor Pier Giorgio Righetti (co-author of the report), who admitted his findings were unreliable, has requested for the paper to be withdrawn after a re-examination revealed the levels of formaldehyde were well below the limit.
