Lydia Yee appointed Chief Curator Whitechapel Gallery

Curator at London’s Barbican Art Gallery since 2007 Lydia will be working with Whitechapel Director Iwona Blazwick and leading the exhibitions team from February 2015.

Recent exhibitions Lydia has worked on at the Barbican include Bauhaus: Art as Life, 2013, Laurie Anderson, Trisha Brown, Gordon Matta-Clark: Pioneers of the Downtown Scene, 2011, Ron Arad: Restless, 2010, and Curve gallery commissions by artists including Cory Arcangel, John Bock, Ayse Erkmen, Geoffrey Farmer and Robert Kusmirowski.

Prior to the Barbican Lydia was senior curator at the Bronx Museum of the Arts in New York. She is also currently co-curating the British Art Show 8 (2015), with Anna Colin.
