Mixed-media artist Gal Weistein has been selected to represent Israel at the 57th Venice Biennale next year, artnet reports. He was notified by the minister of culture Miri Regev (who was accused earlier this year of censoring government critics) of the appointment. Weistein’s most recent exhibitions include: Seeing stars, Gordon Gallery, Tel Aviv (2013), Demonstrating Presence, Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel, Switzerland (2011) and Details, Keitelman Gallery, Brussels, Belgium (2011).
