The Briitish Film Institute (BFI) have announced that theTurner Prize-winning artist turned Oscar-winning film director is to be presented with a BFI Fellowship, its highest accolade.
The award is being given in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film culture, through both his artwork and his three award-winning feature films – Hunger (2008), Shame (2011) and 12 Years a Slave (2013). Previous BFI Fellows include Cate Blanchett (2015), Stephen Frears (2014) and Christopher Lee (2013).
The presentation will take place at the BFI London Film Festival’s annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday 15 October 2016 at Banqueting House.
