Linz’s Lentos Kunstmuseum has announced that Hemma Schmutz has been appointed director for the museums of the city of Linz. As of 1 May she assumes responsibility for Lentos and the Nordico City Museum.

Schmutz succeeds Stella Rollig, who in October 2016 was named artistic director of Vienna’s Belvedere Museum, after twelve years as artistic director at the Linz museums. Schmutz was previously the director of the Salzburg Kunstverein (from 2005 to 2013), subsequently taught at the Viennese University for Applied Arts, and in 2015 took up the post of curator at the Kunstraum Lakeside in Klagenfurt, Austria.
