The staff of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris went on strike on Tuesday, to protest against the current plan to keep the museum open to the public seven days a week from November, Libération reports. The plan proposed by the ministry of culture aims to face the overcrowding of institutions by keeping its main museums (also including the Louvre and Versailles) open seven days a week, with one day only dedicated to school visits.
After meeting with the minister of culture and the staff union this Wednesday morning, the staff decided to pursue the strike action. The opening of the exhibition Splendour and Misery: Images of Prostitution 1850-1910, originally scheduled for Tuesday, will been postponed until an agreement is found.
