Artist Geta Brătescu will represent Romania at the Venice Art Biennale, Romania’s Culture Ministry has announced. The exhibition Geta Brătescu-Apariţii (Geta Brătescu-Appearances) was one of three shortlisted projects. Brătescu’s presentation will be curated by Magda Radu.

The 90-year old artist is considered one of Romania’s most significant living artists. Born in 1926, Brătescu participated in the 1960 Venice Biennale and again in 2013, as one of the artists in Massimiliano Gioni’s The Encyclopedic Palace.

Brătescu was the cover artist for the Summer 2015 issue of ArtReview. Read the feature here.
