Working in conjunction with the Contemporary Art Society in London and the SculptureCenter in New York, art collector and patron Valeria Napoleone has announced the launch of an initiative to fund the annual purchase of an important work by a woman artist, to be donated to a public collection in the UK, and also to support the production of a new work at selected exhibitions at the SculptureCenter.

Titled Valeria Napoleone XX Contemporary Art Society, the UK initiative will be open to applications from the CAS’s 67 Museum Members in April 2016, with the first work purchased to be exhibited at Camden Arts Centre in January 2017, before becoming the centerpiece of a solo show for the artist at the recipient museum.

In the US, Valeria Napoleone XX SculptureCenter will sponsor one major commission in a selected exhibition at the Long Island nonprofit every 12 to 18 months, starting with a work by Anthea Hamilton, whose first US solo museum show is set to open there in September.

22 June 2015.
