Centre Pompidou curator Florence Derieux joins Hauser & Wirth

Florence Derieux, the Centre Pompidou’s curator-at-large and curator of American art for the Centre Pompidou Foundation is joining commercial gallery Hauser & Wirth as director of exhibitions for its New York galleries, artnet reports.

Derieux was appointed to the Pompidou job in November 2015, moving from the FRAC Champagne-Ardenne in Reims, which she had directed since 2008. An art historian by training, Derieux has curated exhibitions by Tom Burr Anges Denes, Cyprien Gaillard and Sterling Ruby, among others. Although her experience lies mostly in the museum sector, Derieux worked with the art fair Art Basel, curating its Art Basel Parcours programme for the fair between 2013 and 2015, and the curated section of this year’s EXPO Chicago.
