A dispute over the whereabouts of over £250 million worth of German art has arisen in China, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung. German collector Maria Chen-Tu says she lent the 354 works, which includes art by Renate Graf, Anselm Kiefe and Markus Lüpertz, to Chinese businessman Ma Yue. He says that the two agreed he could exhibit and sell the work over a ten year period. Chen-Tu says that is incorrect – the commercial aspect was not something she agreed to – and she wants the art back but Ma Yue, whose company, Bell Art Ltd, filed for insolvency in January is refusing to relinquish the collection.
