Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair has announced details for its 6th edition, running from 6–9 September at Gostiny Dvor, Moscow’s Old Merchant Court located minutes away from the Red Square. Over 70 Russian and international galleries are taking part in this edition, presented across the fair’s sections.
The main fair will welcome both well-established and new Russian and international galleries, including Fragment Gallery (Moscow), Lazy Mike (Moscow), Marina Gisich Gallery (St. Petersburg), Pop/off/art Gallery (Moscow), and Triangle Gallery (Moscow), as well as Temnikova & Kasela Gallery (Tallinn), LOCUS (Oslo), Art Select (Bahrain), and Raster Gallery and Dawid Radziszewski Gallery (Warsaw).
In parallel, the fair has developed an extensive programme of curated sections. Focus will showcase galleries from Belgium, including Tatjana Pieters Gallery (Ghent), NK Gallery (Antwerp), Samuel Maenhoudt Gallery (Knokke) and Artelli Gallery (Antwerp); Past Present, curated by Elena Selina of XL Gallery (Moscow), will once again be dedicated to established modern and contemporary Russian artists, and Projects will invite galleries to showcase one or several largescale artworks. This edition will also introduce three new sections: Editions, dedicated to galleries working with prints and multiples; Design, curated by Kristina Krasnyanskaya of Heritage Gallery, featuring contemporary design galleries, and Frame, cocurated by Selina and Olga Temnikova of Temnikova & Kasela Gallery (Tallinn), focusing on nomadic galleries.
Other highlights include the presentation of a new collection of media art from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (named Cosmoscow 2018 Museum Partner), as well as site-specific artist projects by Taus Makhacheva (named Cosmoscow Artist of the Year 2018) and Alexey Martins. The Credit Suisse Cosmoscow Prize for Young Artists, supporting Russian artists under 35, will be returning for its third edition; the winner, announced during the opening of the fair, will receive a financial grant of CHF 3,000 (approx. £2,300), as well as mentorship from Credit Suisse and Cosmoscow and an art trip to Switzerland.
