‘Performances’ of John Cage’s 4′ 33″ – four minutes and 33 seconds of ambient sounds in the environment – are now being recorded and shared around the world, thanks the new 4′ 33″ iPhone app, which uploads recordings and geotags their locations.
An official release from the John Cage Trust and Cage’s long-time publisher, C.F. Peters, the app also includes a recording of the ambient sounds in John Cage’s last New York apartment.
