Adrian Cheng to build 17 'museum retail art malls' across China

Chinese billionaire and founder of the non-profit K11 Art Foundation Adrian Cheng has unveiled his plan to create seventeen new shopping centres in China that will also serve as exhibition and gallery spaces, The Art Newspaper reports. Cheng’s New World Development Company already operates similar ‘museum retail art malls’ in Shanghai and Hong Kong, with works by international artists such as Olafur Eliasson and Yoshimoto Nara as well as some local creatives and designers, shown around the store aisles. The projects, all carrying the K11 brand, are schedule to open in 2020.
