Simone Leigh wins $100,000 Hugo Boss Art Award

Simone Leigh has been announced as the winner of the 2018 Hugo Boss Prize, organised by Hugo Boss in partnership with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation. Leigh, who was selected from a shortlist comprising Bouchra Khalili, Teresa Margolles, Emeka Ogboh, Frances Stark and Wu Tsang, will receive a stipend of $100,000 and a solo exhibiton at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The jury for the 12th edition of the prize was chaired by the Guggenheim’s artistic director Nancy Spector and was composed of: Dan Fox, writer, editor and AV director, Frieze; Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy, director, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, Rotterdam; Bisi Silva, artistic director, Centre for Contemporary Art Lagos; Susan Thompson, associate curator, Guggenheim Museum; and Joan Young, director, curatorial affairs, Guggenheim Museum.
