Protests are planned for Tuesday 18 March to save Moscow’s Shabolovka radio tower, the conical steel structure commissioned by Lenin and designed by the engineer Vladimir Shukhov, The New York Times reports.  The dismantling of  the tower, completed in 1922, and which has been left to deteriorate, has been authorised by the Russian State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, despite a campaign and a petition to save it, signed by architects including Rem Koolhaas and Tadao Ando. A final decision by Russian authorities is expected by 24 March.
