Artists Michelangelo Pistoletto and Antony Gormley are two of the five new Praemium Imperiale laureates, announced 17 September, the latest recipients of the global arts prize awarded annually by the Japan Art Association. Alongside architect David Chipperfield, producer and screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola, Spanish tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo, each laureate will receive an honorarium of 15 million yen (just over £95,000) and a diploma and medal, at an awards ceremony held in Tokyo on 16 October.
