Haroon Mirza wins Nam June Paik Art Center Prize

British artist Haroon Mirza has been awarded the $50,000 (£32,000) 2014 Nam June Paik Art Center Prize which includes a solo exhibition at the Nam June Paik Art Center in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, in 2015.

The prize was initiated in 2009 to recognise experimental and innovative artists and others who, like Seoul-born multi-media artist Paik, (1932–2006) have explored new ways of communicating with audiences combining disciplines such as art and technology, music and performance. Previous winners include Seung-Taek Lee, Eun-Me Ahn, Ceal Floyer, and Robert Adrian X (all 2009); philosopher and sociologist Bruno Latour (2010), and Doug Aitken (2012).
