Dutch-Filipino artist Martha Atienza and American artist Sam Pulitzer have been announced as the two winners of the 19th Baloise Art Prize for both their presentations at Art Basel’s Statements section (Silverlens, Manila, and Real Fine Arts, New York, respectively). They were selected by an international jury including Marie-Noëlle Farcy, Kunsthalle Zurich director Daniel Baumann, Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin curator Sven Beckstette, Zak Group creative director Zak Kyes, and Baloise fine art advisor Martin Schwander.
In addition to the CHF 30,000 (approx. £24,000) cash prize, the Baloise Group will purchase a selection of works by Atienza and Pulitzer to be donated to MMK, Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt a.M. and MUDAM, Luxembourg.
