Artist Cornelia Parker has been named as 2014 Hogarth Fellow, by London’s Foundling Museum, one of the three new Fellows (appointed every two years) announced for the Museum’s 10th anniversary year, which also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the death of William Hogarth, whose donation of paintings to the Hospital laid the foundations of the collection of the Museum.
Poet Lemn Sissay has been named as 2014 Coram Fellow and musician and sound recordist Chris Watson, named as 2014 Handel Fellow.
Each Fellow undertakes a project for the Museum with special relevance to children, inspired by the principles of philanthropy and creativity of the initiators of the original Foundling Hospital, Thomas Coram, William Hogarth, and George Frideric Handel.
Parker joins existing Hogarth Fellows Richard Wentworth, Grayson Perry and Yinka Shonibare MBE.
