The Institute of Contemporary Art, London, has announced the appointment of three new members of the ICA council, the institution’s governing body.

Artist Wolfgang Tillmans, Russian collector and co-founder of nonprofit arts organisation Contemporary City Foundation Delya Allakhverdova and the Lebanese patron Maria Sukkar (who is part of the International Council at Tate and whose art collection, ISELF, represents mainly women) will join the board.

These latest additions to the Institute follow various new appointments that have been made since the beginning of the year, namely Stefan Kalmár, who joined as director in January, Katharine Stout, who became deputy director in April and Richard Birkett was made chief curator in May.

The Institute is also launching a new patron programme, The American Friends of the ICA, which is aimed at ‘collectors who are kindred spirits – those who have engaged with challenging and critical art practices in the US and Europe’.

In a statement, Kalmár has said: ‘These new appointments align with my ambition to make the ICA a truly progressive and radical contemporary arts organisation ready of the 21st century. Seventy years on, this need is felt more acutely than ever’.
