The Victoria and Albert Museum and Smithsonian have announced plans to work together in order to develop a jointly organised gallery space for V&A East, which will be built in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. As part of the ‘Olympicopolis’ project, the former Olympic Park will include the new Sadler’s Wells theatre, a research branch of UCL, a new campus for London College of Fashion and the V&A/Smithsonian museum. In a statement from Smithsonian secretary David Skorton said: ‘Through a collaboration with one of the world’s great museums, we will be able to inspire and educate more people than ever before… With the V&A in London, we can build bridges to other countries and continents and share our work with the world.’
